How To Choose the Perfect Lighting for Your Home Office

Working in a home office or studio means you need that space to be comfortable and functional. If your eyes are hurting at the end of the day or you are constantly getting up to make lighting adjustments, it’s time to reevaluate the space and what it can do for you. Here are three things to consider when choosing architectural lighting design and manufacturing.

Location and Flexibility

Be sure that at least some of your light switches are within easy arm’s reach of your desk. Your lighting needs can change depending on the weather or amount of daylight, and you want to be able to adjust with as little interruption as possible. It’s also smart to have a few task lights with varying degrees of brightness. For example, a desk lamp that allows you to increase or decrease the amount of light it lets off will be very useful.

Consider Aesthetics

While it is most important for the light to be functional, consider its aesthetics and how it will fit into the room as well. You want the lighting design to match the flow and design elements of the space. This type of thoughtful consideration will take your office from a place where you have to spend time to a place where you want to spend time.

Type of Light

If you aren’t sure which light temperature you prefer, try to get a feel for it before investing in new lighting. Do you like warm, golden hues or do you need a colder light? One isn’t necessarily better than the other, but be sure you understand their uses and pick what’s right for you.

Take the time to invest and plan out the lighting in your office to increase efficiency and comfort. Protect your eyes with quality lights that will last you a long time.
